If you'd like to actively promote your business or interests on Reddit, you can submit content via links or text posts. To submit content, press the "submit a new link" button on the main page and fill out the form; your link to an image, article or other piece of content will appear in the "new" section of the subreddit to which you submitted it. If you'd rather write a text post for others to read, choose "submit a text post." Please note: Reddit members judge content and give out upvotes (good) and downvotes (bad) by clicking small up and down arrow icons at the front of each post. Blatantly commercial content or content that is an obvious effort to promote a business or company without adding value to the site will usually be downvoted quickly and pushed to the bottom of the page, ensuring that not many people will see it. Content that is unique, interesting and/or entertaining, however, is often upvoted to the top of its subreddit, where many more people can see it. The greater the quality of your contribution to the community, the greater the likelihood that it will be seen.
Reddit gets downvoted as site takes a Wednesday tumble
Reddit site members, also known as redditors, submit content which is then voted upon by other members. The goal is to send well-regarded content to the top of the site's front page. Content is voted on via upvotes and downvotes: arrows on which users click to the left of a post. The more upvotes a post gets, the more popular it becomes, and the higher up it appears on its respective subreddit or the front page.
